... place in many ways. The citadel was at the end of the boardwalk and is a very impressive building. The stone of all the buildings is a clean white rock and has a lovely soft look. We will do some research and hopefully update our knowledge of this historic site. We walked and walked trying to take it all in until we decided we had to stop and eat. There were lots of choices and all were reasonably priced. We chose a little place on ...

After all we had seen, his themes of diversity killed, and the absurdity of the generated differences that destroyed a nation, resonated more than you could imagine. And he should know, because he has lived through it all.
It is all too easy to find it all rather depressing and to become glum, dwelling upon historical evil. Perhaps ...

Split - the Palace City

... go back to around 295AD... but there is everything between then and now to be seen. Just walking around the site is entertainment enough but there are great little museums and galleries tucked in and around the palace as well.

The original palace fronted straight onto the water - the overlooking terrace would have been a damn fine place for sunset G&T. The waterfront has now been reclaimed and forms the trendy Riva where people spend the ...
