Traveling Day 1
Set out this morning and it was 9C and very cloudy. Had to stop and get more clothes on. The trip started with doing the Million $ highway all over again. That was great! But form there it was a decent to the Mesa (high plains) level. The plains was just like riding in a desert stright and flat. Then we came to the passes to get out of the plains and this grew scary! The speed limit over most of the Pass was 25mph ...
Big Drive Day
... like bicarb soda. They are the biggest producer of soda ash in the world. Flaming Gorge lookout and dam for photos. Excellent photo of the honeymoon couple. Drove through Ashley National Forest and we're staying near Ashley Creek at Vernal. We pitched our tents then unhooked the trailer and headed to Dinosaur National Monument. 4th of July in Dinoland
... s face. There are two levels to the building so you
can see the bones across the entire hillside. On the opposite side
of the building there are plaster casts with complete sets of bones
and an entire dinosaur skeleton assembled. We drove further down the
access road into the park and the road wound slowly through rising
rock landforms. The road eventually turned to gravel and there were
pullouts with trails ...
Smell the Milk Before Serving it
Another of the many things I have
learned on this trip. In retrospect, we are pretty sure it was an
old sippy cup of milk with carnation instant breakfast from the back
of the fridge that caused Pete to barf just miles from our
destination for the night.
It was one of those days (and nights)
right out of the movies. You know, like the Robin Williams RV
