... and hang out for a while. I can’t even really remember what else we did in Bar. I remember walking the long walk back to the train station early because we were so bored and cold. We played chess in the smoke-filled waiting room then hopped on the train.

Oh, and another thing: in Montenegro (and as you will read in a later blog entry, in Serbia) people can smoke almost anywhere. It’s crazy. Europe is much ...
Bar, Serbia and Montenegro mdaa... days and I dont fell like I have any energy what so ever, so I decided to do nothing with my day, all I did was just watch films and the football. To be honest when you are travelling you need days like this when you just do nothing, it was really nice just to chill out and I feel so much better for it. I havent felt like this since Lebannon but when your body is telling you to rest you need to.
Budva, Montenegro richardcowley... and others freely spoke our minds on a myriad of subjects such as politics and theology without being badgered. This was my personal experience and I know allegedly not all Serb citizenry under previous regimes enjoyed such privilege. Upon leaving the marketplace we enjoyed lunch at Darko's which Bojana prepared; she was an excellent cook! My favorite Serbian food is Gibanica (I think this is the correct spelling). Gibanica is an exquisite main dish comprised of Greek filo ...
Serbia and Montenegro, Serbia lpcyu... Montenegro) We started out watching 12 year olds go at it, but by the end there were some heavyweights. Quite entertaining. Mostly my days are spent at the beach either swimming or rock diving and attempting not to be scorched by the ever strengthening sun. I've seen my fair share of castles and fortifications...but I guess I'll be seeing a lot more before my trip is over. The next time you hear from me I'll be in Sarajavo, and yes it's safe!
Budva, Serbia and Montenegro tigo2... tiny cobbled streets and alley ways, faded stone walls, multicolored slate roofs that sit almost on top of each other, and nothing more than 2 stories high. Hvar is a haven for people who like boats. People who own boats, girls who want to pull someone that owns a boat, and lads that pretend to own a boat to pull. Nearby are the Hells Islands where we spent the days sunbathing along the rocks. On our last day there a fishing boat was unloading its daily catch, throwing ...
Kotor, Serbia and Montenegro baileyandkerry... 3 months and that is long enough to be away. There are still lots of places to see so I will just have to return another time. I had to create a route from Dubrovnik back to Lisbon for my flight home so I will visit a few new places along the way. 8/13 I went back to Jaz Beach for my last day in Budva. It was again gorgeous and the sea was so tranquil, quite a contrast from my last visit. I went for my longest swim yet and really enjoyed it. I did swim under this cool ...
Budva, Serbia and Montenegro rnriggins... up behind glass! Once I'd finished exploring the place, I decided to look for a proper view over it. It basically resulted in a lot of sweat and spent energy for rather incomplete views. The one promising place that I saw from below turned out to be an inaccessible batch of private apartments meant for tourists to rent. Rather disappointing. I've got two nights here, so I'll probably look a little further down the coast for the day tomorrow. The ...
Budva, Serbia and Montenegro xerius... completed, with expensive industrial stones and refrigerator system still in tact, but not being used. We were somewhere in what was a cross of a dance floor and dining area when some people, I don't know who they were, appeared. "You can't be here. This is private property," They told us. Rather then cause a scene, and really we didn't have any right to be there, we headed back to the protected cove where we had beached our kayaks for the long journey back to the shore.
Budva, Serbia and Montenegro still_a_floatI had never even heard of the small city of Kotor before my friend Aga in Krakow showed me some photos from her trip there, but once I saw them I knew it was a place I had to visit. The picturesque walled town had a dramatic location, nestled at the foot of Southern Europe's deepest fjord beneath huge brooding mountains. Take the city away and the spectacular looking scenery could have been from Fjordland in New Zealand or even Norway, and I knew that ...
Kotor, Montenegro will... we are not terribly economical, and just about every passing thought warrants inclusion. Did I mention earlier that we replaced my lost/stolen sunglasses while we were in Buzios? Well, we selected a new pair. Pricewise, they were about a third of the way between the cheap, sidewalk ones that I normally buy and the fancy ones that LJ bought me and I lost. Well, two days ago, I discovered that one of the nose pads is missing from the new pair. I guess I am better off with ...
