This is a great hotel less then a 5 minute walk from the old town. Our room was clean and well appointed. On the 2nd floor is the breakfast room with an outdoor terrace overlooking the street and the park. There is an all-purpose store just a block away called Monoprix (food, clothing, sundry items etc.).

Sunday 9/14 - After flying all night from the US, followed by a 4 hour high speed TGV from Paris, we arrived in Annecy around 2:30 pm on Sunday for a 3 night stay.

It was a short walk from the train station to our hotel. We settled into our room, unpacked and decided since it was such a beautiful afternoon to take a walk around town.

    Race Day

A travel blog entry by legoodtimesroll on Jul 10, 2015

Graham met another trathlete on the campsite and they decided to travel on the 7.30 bus into Geneva. An early start with number tattoos applied , sun cream on and pre race breakfast. I delivered them to the bus stop and went back to see if there was any other signs of life at base camp. Slowly the campers emerged and prepared themselves for the day ahead in the hot sun, We failed to get to the bus stop by 10am as planned so had to wait another half ann ...

    Pre race day

... we would take them back to the campsite by car as it is uphill from the city and navigating through the Geneva streets could be tricky, so it was a case of dismantling the tandem in the underground car park and putting it on the roof rack this was all very complicated and technical. I was panicking because I paid for the car park which was mega bucks and If you don't go out within a certain time it might not accept ...

... crystal clear with a backdrop of snow capped mountains (just to make us feel at home), and the best bit was that our campsite was about 100m from the edge…..perfect!

The next day we packed a picnic and walked along the ‘voie verte’, the traffic free cycle path which leads you into Annecy and follows the lake. It was a beautiful walk and we couldn’t believe the hive of activity on the path. There is a continuous flow ...

    Lakeside in the Alps

... are these not as prolific in the world as chocolate chip cookies!? Matthew didn't object when I suggested that we stockpile enough macaroons to carry us through the rest of our holiday.

Before departing for the rest of our itinerary, we walked along the lake and stopped over the Pont des Amours (Lover's Bridge) to take in the crisp beauty of the sheltered scenery. If this place was any indication, I could already tell that I was going to love the Alps!
