After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... seen and spoken to, to date.
Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... Sailboats were docked at the marina (knez, it made me think of you). Diane ordered mussles and Jon and I had our first mussels ever. They were delicious. Thank you Diane for helping me discover my love for sea food. St-Tropez was further than we thought, but thank god we ...
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjon... menu. Lambrusca. If you haven't had it before, its a wonderful young sparkling red wine. Nice, Provence, France sofenjon... Three hours later, we exited Sabatini's! A fantastic end to a very memorable day! Princess Lesia, this day was yours! Every second, every minute, every hour! I was honored to be your husband because every Princess has a Prince! And for the day, as I escorted you, I felt like Prince Richard!

Bonsoir! Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... the castle and admired the splendid views.

Later we wandered back through the bourg and down into the modern town. Proceeding towards the sea, we noted that preparations were well advanced on all sides for the passage of the Tour; frankly, we were rather taken aback at the eagerness of so many folk to stand waiting - at now about 10.45am - for a race that according to the information leaflet I'd picked up would not come through until around 1 ...
Cagnes-sur-Mer, Provence, France saracengill... these 3 story massive boats belong to people that just drop by every once and a while to hang. Just GORGEOUS. I think I will spend some of my millions on a yacht though. Like I said, overall not my fav. Although, still the French Riviera, so you really can't go wrong. And it seems I picked the best day to forgo the beach as it rained for a whole 8 minutes. Wow. Begrudgingly, I am leaving the beach. (No more sun and surf? Sad.) I am headed back north - to Norway.
Monaco-Ville, Monaco gocubsHad a train trip from Nice to Moinaco for the day today. Fantastic views on the half hour train ride along the coast. Walked the Grand Prix circuit. Very much as I had expected - dripping money! So many gorgeous cars. A bit disappointed with the palace though. Then train ride back to Nice.
