This morning we said goodbye to our beautiful Castle hideaway & hit the Autostrada. First stop was Vicolungo The Style Outlet Shopping Mall to spend the last of those pesky Euro's! Then we thought we would just have a drive around the villages in Lombardy around the lake Lago Maggiore. It was just beautiful. Especially the village if Angera. I could ...

Our group today consisted of two kiwis, one Australian, one Englishman, a Scot and 4 Italians.

After driving to the small town of Argegno (again thanks D), north of Como ...

Another cold night followed by sunshine. After breakfast we walked for a few kilometres along the shores of the lake. By 9.30 we were on the road, we stopped at one of the lakeside villages. Lazise is one of the old walled places, we entered through an arch in the walls on to cobbled streets that led to a large square which in turn opened out into a small harbour and a promenade along the waters front. ...

... was how quiet it was here. Obviously it's not quite peak season yet but compared to Rome, Florence and the Cinque Terre, this place was almost deserted.
The locals are charming and the whole town has a laid back feel that is complimented by the stunning vistas.
We boarded a boat for a trip across the lake to Isola Bella, one of the Borromean islands. While we were waiting at the dock to get underway a bright ...
