Well i say goodbye to my wonderful hosts and head to the train station. The day goes as planned and i arrive into Marseille at 6pm. My host is waiting to show me the apartment.

Decided to take a morning excursion to Cassis even though we planned to disembark a day early in Marseille - turned out to be a great decision as we probably would not have bothered to get ourselves there on our own, & it is a beautiful town! Especially loved the little boat trip to three of the closest calanques. Soaked up the sunshine at a waterside café then wandered through the narrow back streets & through the bustling local market.

... no vehicles were allowed. Heard about Le Parc Ornithologique where there were purported to be flamingos. Initally a bit sceptical, that quickly vanished when I saw 2 flying overhead as we arrived. Wow. Flamingos everywhere, and apparently not bothered by the 100's of people continually taking pictures. There were other migratory and wetland birds there but.....flamingoes. FINALLY......right place, right time!

... all family gatherings henceforth. Maclean and I drove in to Aix-en-P'ce to meet the girls for dinner. Our timing was almost perfect because as soon as we parked the car ( yes, in our go-to garage), we walked towards that main square and the girls were also making there way to the same location. There were more vendors on the street, and I purchased a fountain pen from a guy who buys these lens and then applies a special finish with his own ...
