The view from the ship of traditional white houses with blue trim was unmistakeable Greek! We took a water taxi from the ship to Mykonos to walk around town and enjoy the picture-postcard views. ... but with the wind stronger than the day before and the sky looking rather bleak we were not too fussed. The fact that we had seen little of the island didn't overly play on our minds as we had used the time to relax and plan the next month of our trip in addition I think that we were a bit depleted when it came to caring about ruins, churches and temples.
So it was off to the port where the real Greek adventure began.

... potatoes. Firstly we checked into Hotel Grotta, a family owned business set upon the hill about 300 metres walk from the Naxos town Hora which offered uninterrupted sunset views. In the evening we purchased some local supplies including a $5 (plastic) bottle of red and enjoyed it from the hotel. ... time to reach the beach, but it was worth it in the end. Thought we had taken a wrong turn somewhere, but got there in the end. The beach was absolutely gorgeous and went for miles. not sure if any tourists come here regularly, but it was just like being on Whitehaven beach. the water was so crystal clear. I walked out into it, couldn't resist, and once again, took heaps of photos.
