Now - it's a case of packing before we depart early tomorrow for another 5 hour drive North East up to the Selkirk mountains where we are staying at the Grizzly Bear Ranch. Apparently it is very remote, so high-speed wifi may be one of those luxuries that hasn't made it into that area. So - may be a few days before you get the next up-date! Bye for now xxx

The next day we went up to Omak lake, and climbed the hill for a balanced rock. Loved this place!!! Although they mysteriously disappeared on us for two days, they are back in full force and last night we managed to catch three females (they are so cool!). We are only interested in catching nighthawks ...

... been much better. We are very lucky to study a predatory bird - the nighthawk - in one of the most beautiful areas of Canada - the Okanagan Valley. We are surrounded by orchards, vineyards, wineries, and golf courses...so we plan on spending our downtime wisely. I have already tried some Canadian delicacies, i.e. poutine and butter tarts. Did I gain three pounds on the spot? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

... outer edge of town, I found a Walmart and once again Maura was in the right place at the right time. She was sitting in the CRV in the parking lot. We loaded up on zinc oxide products and more Gatorade.
I peddled off, covered in white sunblock, still with the hopes that I could knock out another 45 miles.

By noon, the sun was sizzling and unrelenting headwinds tried ...
