Today, Friday, we had another great drive. We left Austin, Nevada by nine AM and had only about a hundred and fifty miles to travel. We moved lower and lower until now we're at about 4,400 above sea level. It's about seventy degrees here and feels great. In more recent times the presence of a main east-west rail line, the emerging interstate highway system, favorable state tax climate and relatively inexpensive land created favorable conditions for warehousing and distribution of goods. Good thing too, as Indian gaming took away a lot of prospective customers from the local casinos!

... the couple at the table next to us. Rich and Rosita are employees of one the mining companies in Battle Mountain. They are from Arizona, but took a per diem job, here in the Gold Capitol of our country. They are fellow riders and the talk is easy. It's 9:00 pm before we part ways.
