Reno is located in high desert with 300 days of sunshine, 7.5" of precipitation and 24" of snow annually. The Sierra Nevada Range is 10 minutes away, the beautiful Lake Tahoe is a mere 45 minutes. Reno has a small town feel. The people are nice and very polite. We can drive to Southern California in a day to visit friends and family. The Sierra Canyon Community is lovely ...
long sleep! Amazing after 20 hours + on coaches. We took a free
shuttle to the airport and then another one to the Nugget hotel in
Sparks . . . home of the West's Ribs cook off. The rib festival was
huge, a really nice atmosphere, loads of food and loads of people. We
looked around the stalls and then chose the Texas Outlaws stall. I
had pulled pork roll, bbq beans ...
... to end this blog than with one of our favorite Alaskan sunsets.
Postscript: We traveled a total of 7409 land miles, as well as our miles on the Alaska Marine Highway from Skagway to Prince Rupert.which we estimate to be about 450 miles. The highest we paid for gasoline per gallon was $6.28 with the lowest $3.65 when we were back in Nevada. Gasoline for the RV was our biggest expense as we were only getting 7+ miles to the gallon.
Jalen's 1st trip to tahoe was horrible. We went through a timeshare offer and the resort was so bad we left 1 day early! We saw our presentation which was horrible experience and checked out early. The room was small, dingy and so outdated. No AC as well and it was hot. We went to the Lake which was nice and Jalen dipped his feet in for the 1st time. He wasn't a fan because it was too cold. ...
