... slept very well! Today we booked a driver for 6 hours. This enabled us to see more of Dubai and in air conditioned comfort. Nadim was born in Dubai but soon after, his parents went back to Pakistan. He has come back to work here. Unlike other countries the fact that he was born here does not make him an Emirati. He is a Pakistani and is here on a work visa. It was interesting to speak with him about life in Dubai. Our first stop was at ...

I met with the recruiter the following day and even though tired that night made it a point to make the half an hour train trip down to the world famous Dubai Mall and the worlds tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. So first impressions of Dubai.. Love it. And can't wait to go back. What i really like is no matter how glam it gets and how many big western brands are there you can really see and feel the local culture. Definately my kind of place. And the lady taxis at the airport are a cute touch too.

... me, "Foul Madammes", Julie tried it and was just baked beans mixed in with gravy. After a walk around the hotel gardens we catch a taxi uptown to the Dubai Mall & Burj Khalif which is one bloody tall building, it is so tall it hardly looks real but is very impressive. Like everything in Dubai the Mall is huge and filled with exotic shops, restaurants & the usual top end places of Gucci, Prada, Versace etc. Most stores have sales on so I scored a couple of shirts from ...
