So that's that, first solo travelling trip overall a success I think. If it weren't for the darn fleas I'd have no second thoughts about returning sometime soon. We'll see.

A little Luxury, with sea-lions and pelicans too
... on the sofa - rather than the bed - to watch TV. Bliss!
We admired the view, had a good wash and cashed in our Welcome Drink Pisco Sour vouchers in the bar, which had an open air view of pool(s) and ocean. We set aside thoughts of spending money on a meal, ordered another round of drinks and lingered where we were over a shared platter of delicious tapas. More bliss!

Leap of faith
... and this part of the pacific coast, as one of THE places to get good thermals. Most flights last about an hour, however some get 6 hour flights, as the sun hits the ground, the air rises as a thermal, due to the difference in temperature. So having missed out in NZ, it was time for a leap of faith off the 1700 ft sand dune.

Beach bums and Mummies
Another place we hadn't even heard of until about a week before we arrived. Just getting to this beach town a few hundred kms from Calama was interesting in itself. Following the railway used by the mines through the desert, we passed a number of nitrate towns, before dropping down from the high plateau at the coast. We made our way north past all the abandoned villages. Whilst the expanse of desert was huge, the roads are all paved due to the mining money.

And so comes the rain
... a very important ship in the Pacific war between Chile and Peru (Im such a historian!) which got completely destroyed in the war but they are rebuilding it. Its not finished and the only other person to have seen it so far is the President of Chile!!
We went to Humberstone on Saturday which is this old mining town that was really eerie had loads of things still in place. We also saw some geoglifs of this alien type creature ...
