... his own seat, where he immediately fell asleep.

I loved the ride. It was comfortable, short (about an hour an a half) and scenic - and included a complimentary goodie bag of a breakfast bar and a bottle of flavoured water (no plain water available).

When I arrived at the bus station just outside of town at St Miguel de Allende, the taxi driver that was next in line, and therefore the one for me, had a tantrum when I indicated that I needed to find my ...
Guanajuato, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico hilaryford... and during- parties! All of this was in one of the most gorgeous cities ve ever been in, replete with cobblestone streets, winding allies, epic stone staircases and even more epic churches, beautiful pastel-colored houses, endless street markets, and, unexpectedly, dozens of roadside pizza stands (in reviewing the weekend, I think I ate 12 slices of pizza over the 3 day trip).

It was a star ...
Guanajuato, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico dylbeano... gorgeous little boy, Daniel. Conversation was limited since I speak so little Spanish and they speak so little English, but the music was loud anyway, and the energy was warm and friendly.
The next morning, Daniel drove me through a maze of tunnels (a former mine) to Guantajuato. It's world heritage site, so much of the old hispanic architecture is beautifully preserved or restored. It's easy to see why it's such a popular tourist destination.
Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico hilaryford... and Tuesday I have culture class. I love it. The teacher knew I was new and didn't know much, so he was very animated. He knows some English. He was asking the class how to say these two words in English so I would understand (because he thought i didn't). Out of everyone (who were all on a higher lever) I knew both words. He was shocked. It was awesome. I pick up on the most random things.
Guanajuato, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico heidishappening... with me who new this.

- Half the people here don't seem to have doorbells. All the houses are very open in the center. So, people will stand outside the door and yell your name. All the houses seem to have a little store in front and then everyone lives upstairs, so knocking does no good.

Bathroom Signs:
at one place, the women's was a ceramic painted moon, and the men's was a statue of don Quijote
(see pics)

When you go ...
Guanajuato, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico heidishappening... of steps. Finally the penny dropped - this was one of the callejoneadas I had read about in the guidebook. The story is that university students used to gather in the evening to stroll about the alleys, instruments and libation in hand, singing and making merry. This tradition was revived in the 1960´s. The great thing is that these students are really good singer/instrumentalists.

I had planned an early night ...
Guanajuato, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico sehablaespanol... is one of the most beautiful Mexican towns without a great cultural shock - it is a university town providing intellectual stimulation as well as plenty of watering holes to keep the students happy - greater necessity to speak Spanish (depends on point of view) - city is large enough to have good shopping (Costco, Wal- Mart, Home Depot) - temperate summer ...
Guanajuato, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico lobo... much much bigger. I had no idea I had such a problem with crowds. Ok.. maybe I don't have a problem with crowds... but when it is absolutely impossible to escape... imposible to find a non-crowded place so you can BREATH.. then I have a BIG BIG BIG problem with crowds... I couldn't breath there were so many people. I seriously almost had a panic attack several times. The network for our cell phones was down, because there were so many people trying to use it at ...
Guanajuato, Mexico danielasnyder... town... we have a giant neon ugly piece of moderness (that's not a word... I know) It makes me mad... and I am sure I not the only one who feels that way... Ill have to take a picture. You can all be mad too. Imelda is on my food case again... she says that I don't eat enough. She says she is buying me special food. Haha... Guanajuato, Mexico danielasnyder... and shopped.OH... and I bought my JLO Catrina... amazing. Too bad she is sitting in my corner devoured in bubble wrap... ( I hope she makes the trip home) Saturday night... we went dancing again... Dont worry- we only stayed out until 3:30 that night... Sunday (Pam's last day) was a long day. Pam was sick ( most-likely due in part to lack of sleep) and we were just flat-out tired. We went down-town, saw the Diego Rivera Museum (He was born here and his house ...
