... it's famous reigning monarch of the time Olaf ii. With it's architecture quite different to the castle's we are used to in the UK, it is definitely worth a visit. It's particularly worth getting a photo of the lakes from the castle walls- very picturesque! The castle is also home to the famous Savolinna Opera festival, which takes place annually in the month of July. ...

The ship itself also proved a great source of hospitality and entertainment with it's onboard sauna with the challenge being to run straight out of the sauna and to dive off the bow of the ship into the glacial lake (not for the faint hearted!)

It's a city of 30,000 people or so and if there weather was nicer, I would have loved to go on a lake cruise, but it poured down rain all day.
