... we ended Sa**************ing to Coolangatta Estate Winery. It is the oldest European estate in southern NSW and is gorgeous. We did a wine and cheese tasting, enjoyed a beautiful dinner, toured the vineyard and played 9 holes in the morning. Very relaxing!
Some of you may have seen reports of the sand storm in Australia last week....well, we weren't spared. It was very strange outside and we were urged to stay indoors to avoid the dust. There is still a lot of red dusty ...
... should be a lot of fun! Shortly thereafter we'll catch a flight up to Cairns.
Once in Cairns, we plan on doing a lot of scuba on weekends...we were going to go up there during our month of travel after the secondement, so now we probably don't need to! It'll be an excellent opportunity to see the place with our flights paid for...wooo! Needless to say, all of this moving around is throwing a wrench into my job plans ...
... badly to go home, missing my family and friends, and now that it's actually happenning, it's really sad. I've moved out of my flat and have sent a suitcase of my stuff home a few weeks ago. I had someone come around last night to have a look at my car and hopefully he will take it off my hands by the end of this week. I'm living at my friend Olivia's house and that's probably where I'll be for the rest ...
Wollongong, Australia ambiepambieSo I finally moved everything out of Wollongong after making 2 trips up to Sydney. Of course it had to rain because i moved my mattress. Big thanks to Paul and Deb for expertly tarping it up and moving it without a fuss. Mum, Dad, Keiran and Shaun couldn't believe how much stuff I had to move up and the boys are now commenting on all the excessive boxes around the house. Pseudo brother Rhys was also there to greet me.
Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia alanna.holloway... Paddington market (amazing!) and then went back to Diane's for a nice evening on the saturday. We left on the Monday bright eyed and bushy tailed, having said goodbye to the grandparents as they were leaving for the UK the following week and we knew we wouldnt see them - though now it's goign to be a full year til I see them next. Off to our next adventure....
Minto Heights, Australia tigerdany35Well it was a long day after getting up at the crack of night, but we made it through! We arrived to some great weather which has lasted for quite a while now - yey for us! Well basically it's just been really nice seeing the relos, being entertained by Milo the chocolate lab and just chilling after 3 months of craziness! Though now we have returned to being useless and disorganised ...
Minto, Australia tigerdany35... real ones occasionally for sale and they advertised them as "American Style Christmas Trees." We definitely didn't see nearly the number of houses decorated with lights and yard ornaments, but there are some. So many people kept saying to us that it didn't feel like Christmas to them either....because it wasn't hot enough. Apparently, it's pretty typical that the temp would be in the 30s--that's the 90s Farenheit! A ...
Sydney, Australia barbglore... surprise Christmas presents. Lee didn't get anything this year (apart from the Robbie ticket I had already got him) so we all felt a bit bad opening our pressies in front of him when he didn't have anything. I think he felt a little bit sad too so I thought it migh tbe nice to surprise him. I didn't get him much, some toothpaste (not very exciting but needed and practical!), some nice Belgian chocolates (because normal chocolate over here is pants) and I wrapped my Maglite torch ...
Sydney, Australia lisartwhad a really busy week. mick decided it would be easier for him to get work, and cheaper accom in kal so he flew back there. we moved into a house at maroubra beach (beautiful) and sold the car in the same day. after finding some random furniture on the streets! once a month in sydney people put out their unwanted things and its ...
