... the only bus back to Cortona disappearing up the hill (presumably without any passengers). I am not sure what the bus driver was thinking - or maybe he wasn't. Fortunately there was an Italian man with a minivan taxi, who had been ferrying tourists around wineries. He offered us a ride to Cortona for 10 euros. Sold!!!!! The cynic in me wondered whether he may be related to the bus driver - but probably not. After a big day we ordered some take away pizza and had an early ...

... pretty good – mainly about fluffy puppies. When we got to the inside of the dome, I thought I was on the home stretch. We had made it. I was ready to start going down the stairs and get out. I’d never ...

... the highlight is seeing David. Now David is impressive, the statue is so large, much larger than I thought it would be. It's mind blowing to think Michelangelo would have started with a huge block of raw stone and slowly chiselled away to produce such a masterpiece. The detail of his features, his ribs, the veins in his feet, hands and arms, the muscle tone- just amazing. Paul and I did realise though that the proportion was a little off, his hands for example ...

    Wk 5 Stop 15: Florence

... up from there (from crocodile to ostrich they ranged from 2000 to 5000 euros), guess I'll start saving now! The rest of the day was filled with eating and shopping (creme brûlée gelato was so delicious!) I won't bore you with the details of that but I managed to come away with some pretty great authentic italian leather goods! I am however still thinking about the bag from the leather school. This trip is coming to an end and we're on our way to our last destination: ...
