    Ottimo servizio

    from

    from

    Great Value hotel

    from

Just back from 7 nights in the Southern Sun Waterfront (Previously the Holiday Inn Waterfront). Nice Hotel located just at the entrance to the road which leads directly into the famous V&A Waterfront. Shuttle bus runs to the Waterfront at regular intervals or you can do as we did and stroll it in about 10 minutes.

Nice Tourist class hotel with a decent restaurant, separate breakfast area and a nice bar. There is also a small but adequate swimming pool with suning area although sunbathing is naturally way down the priority list when visiting Cape Town. Concierge desk has loads of options for tours, restaurants etc and are more than helpful in making bookings and getting taxis etc. Limited but adequate 24 hour room service available at very reasonable rates. There have a couple of Mercedes C class cars and you can arrange to be collected / dropped at the airport for 240 Rand ( €25) as opposed to approximately €22 in a regular taxi. Driver will meet you in arrivals hall with name card etc. A few nice touches also were the free sweets and juices at reception in the afternoons and a free local paper daily to your room. If you need a late check-out this can be arranged. We arranged to hold onto our room until 8pm for only 30 Euro on the day we left which was brilliant. All of the staff we encountered were genuinely friendly and helpful.

We got a room only rate of €65 per room per night which we felt was top class. There are undoubtedly "better" and "nicer" hotels in the V&A Waterfront itself but in a lot of cases the price is for the location and not the quality of hotel.

There is so much to do in Cape Town that a lot of your time will be spent away from the hotel. We felt the this hotel was a perfect base for our week in Cape Town and couldn't fault it in any way.

    Gibt nichts zu berichten!

    from

    Nothing to write home about!

    from

We booked this hotel last minute so didn't really have a lot of time to investigate before we arrived!

It used to be a Holiday Inn, so although the standard is higher than you would expect from this chain, it is still a big chain hotel!

The hotel is located at the top of the main road to the Waterfront, and a shuttle bus runs every 30mins for 10ZAR per person.

However apart from this there really isn't a lot around the hotel, (except more hotels, and an off licence!)

Upon arrival at 8 in the morning we were given one of the older rooms to change in and have a shower which was a nice touch.

Throughout the stay the staff were helpful and cheerful and apart from waiting too long for tea at Breakfast and not being given a room to shower in before we headed to the airport on our last day there is nothing to complain about.

Be warned the pool is more of a bath tub as its so small, and does not get any sun after about 2pm in the afternoon.

Overall this is a clean, average hotel. However I would recommend staying somewhere either actually on the Waterfront or in Camps Bay by the nice restaurants if you want to avoid having to take shuttle buses/taxis everywhere.

    Ausgezeichnete Lage und toller Service

    from

    Excellent Location and Brilliant Service

    from

The Southern Sun Cape Town (formerly the Holiday Inn Waterfront) was our accomodation for the first part of our multi centre holiday in south africa.

The rooms were good and the bathroom spacious with an excellent shower and a separate bath.

The staff were - without exception - friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

The breakfast was outstanding. A huge buffet with cereals, cold meats and salmon, fresh fruit, pastries, or a cooked breakfast option.

There were also very nice little touches such as a lady by the front door with a glass of iced, flavoured water to greet you when you came in from a hot day of sighseeing.

The concierge was extremely informative and helpful and there is also a complimentary shuttle bus leaving every 1/2 hour to take you to the V & A waterfront. A little tip though - you can easily walk to the V & A and it's only a 10 munite stroll.

Oh and theres a small but perfectly adequate swimming pool as well.

All in all a perfect base for an excellent few days in Cape Town

    from

    Ausgezeichnetes Hotel, ausgezeichnete Lage!

    from

    Excellent Hotel, Excellent location!

    from

Now the Southern Sun Cape Town Waterfront, this is an excellent hotel in a fantastic location! The hotel is very smart and looks like it has been recently refurbished. Our room was large, spotlessly clean and very comfortable with a wonderful view of Table Mountain. Reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast has to be the best I've ever experienced in a large hotel; the extensive buffet was of an excellent standard and the service extremely attentive. An added bonus was the lovely outdoor pool and bar area. Highly recommended and hope to return soon!

Add in a few breakdowns and we have arrived! Robin, met us at the airport and had our ride ready to whisk us away to the hotel. At this point, the only thing I can think about is a shower. Our driver is a very nice man, who gives us lots of tips on what to do and avoid in Cape Town. At the hotel, we are greeted by a handsome man that makes us each …

We saw a cave in the wall of the quarry which had been named the 'University of Robben Island'. One thing I didn't know was that with all of the political leaders around they used it to their advantage to educate each other and to teach those who couldn't ...

After of day chilling out at the apartment, today was a busy one. The first port of call was a Township tour. Debbie and Roland were picked up at the Victoria and Alfred Hotel on the waterfront by the township guide, Thand. They then headed off for the District Six Museum.

District Six was named the Sixth Municipal District of Cape Town in 1867. Originally established as a mixed community of freed slaves, merchants, artisans, labourers and immigrants. It was ...

We also had a bottle of wine and eventually repeated the events of the night before. Our last night they had a costume theme party where we threw on any leftover weird smelly outfits from the barn.
