... is that they come with Massai spears with the meat and that the meat is exotic game meats. The meats change depending on availability and I had Crocodile, Kudu, Springbok, Gemsbok, Warthog. Most were pretty good with the exception of the Crocodile which is surprising as I have had it before and liked it.
So now off to Cape Town tomorrow and Yvette decided to tag along so I will see what it's like traveling with someone for a bit.
... t it??; So curry breath notwithstanding, we found ourselves on a South African Airways flight to Johannesburg after six busy, and enjoyable, days in Hong Kong. This was another one of those late night flights that left at 11:50pm and served dinner about an hour after takeoff. I am amazed at how the children can be nodding off prior to boarding the plane, but as soon as the personal entertainment systems are fired up, and more food is placed in front of ...
Johannesburg, South Africa elopfamily... we had all to ourselves. Sally's puppies were adorable and came to visit us on a regular basis. Went walking on her 29 hectares and saw Zebra, warthog, impala, eland, and loads of birds as we did so. Guinea fowl everywhere. Can really recommend it if anyone interested and Sally is great (just brought it in the last month, she's English). Dinokeng is just to the north east of Pretoria. It is the new ...
Cullinan near Pretoria, South Africa neilandchris... let me by. If not, he said to find a business traveler and ask them to check one of my bags in for me. So we arrived in J.Burg International arrivals and it was not the nicest place. I managed to finally get in touch with my host in the hotel I was staying at and he picked me up within minutes. I was nervous because when I used the pay phone it said the number was wrong or didn't exist and I thought I was toast. Fortunately the info booth let me ...
Johannesburg, South Africa serenaorregoThe tunnel of lightness... walking down the terminal to my gate I went through a sunlit glass tunnel that cast rays of light through an otherwise dank, gray terminal. I felt like I could run down the tunnel gear and all....fortunately that was a bit of adrenaline as in reality I realized already I had packed too much. It didn't matter though, I was moving..and I mean that more figuratively than literally. It was funny on my way to the airport my ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa peter.oistadIn India we managed to be kind and help this little old lady who spoke no English or Hindu, only the language of her local village. We pushed her trolley, helped rearrange her bags and seated her on the airplane. She had memorized the term Sud Africa. So anytime we asked her for anything she would just shout 'Sud Africa! Sud Africa!!'. Anyways, we stopped off in Nairobi and so we eventually found her and carted her around the airport with us. Taking her to the toilet and getting her ...
Johannesburg, South Africa taransay... several feet away. Once this has been accomplished the buck is hung to dry in his outside toilet for 17 years, rubbed in Elephant dung and then packaged for sale. It has the texture of an old boot, only it looks less appetizing, yet is tastes awesome. Trust me if you have the ***** there is not more effective anal blocker than a bag of Biltong. After they had the Willies, I went to the Spar. On the way I overheard on the radio that South Africa is having a ...
Hoedspruit, South Africa olibray... After a while they said they were heading off to another seafood restaurant and would i like to join them as they were tired of the company of pre-pubescent travelling hormones / walking glands and reasoned that, as i was patently neither of these, i might be decent company. I was delighted to accept this option (they didn't look the types to get into a threesome) and we headed out. This was when we got stopped by the police. Conspicuously armed with guns and a ...
Nelspruit, South Africa jimbarnard... My nose is not happy. I'm normally great at avoiding the usual con men when I arrive in a new city, but this time, my long plane journey weariness combined with having got used to the friendliness of the people of the South Pacific islands, got the better of me and I let a random guy in the airport walk me to my meeting point. Not surprisingly he asked for money, and said any currency would do, so I tried to fob him off with my last Aussie coins which were wrapped in a UNICEF ...
Johannesburg, South Africa froglin81Second day at Sharalumi's in Pretoria... eloped the rain yesterday, 6.5 hours of walking around town and surfing the web at a nice and cheap place all the way down on Church Street (R8/hour), but not today: got ******* wet! Watched a movie I don't remember anything about, stared out at the rain coming down in sheets, did some laundry and discovered bed bug bites in my face and on my arms. Quarantined all my clothes since everything was out to dry at Gemini's which is where the ...
