We left Minneapolis this morning and headed across the state, through Minnesota's farm land with corn, wheat, and other crops. We saw many fields and large farms with huge grain storage facilities. We headed into North Dakota, into Fargo at lunchtime and stopped for lunch. Then we headed across North Dakota. The main things I remember about North Dakota (after living here for two years) is the huge farms, large farm buildings, and very few trees. They ...

We had to disconnect the car and make a couple of circuits round the pumps to get to the diesel pump without blocking the whole fuel island...we may have to do this at every service station and so are planning to detach the car 'before' we actually drive onto the station lot. ... and settled in. The lounge car guy came on and said that he was closing in 10 minutes, so there was a mad ash to the cafe. Oddly enough, the train's power cut off, so that meant he couldn't actually do anything til it came back on. The people with me in line and I settled in and the guy in front of me and myself had a nice conversation. One nice thing about trains is that there is a lot more opportunity and expectation that you socialize. Because otherwise, what's ...

We've arrived! We are now in Minot! Matt, Kristen, and William met us at the train station. What a smiley boy! It was so nice to see him and his parents. He is so mellow...only time we heard him cry was when he was hungry. They took us to Ruby Tuesday and we had a very good meal. They have a really good salad bar with pumpernickel ...
