      For those who may not know, I am a great lover of Woodstock, the music festival held over 3 days in August 1969. I really believe that those people showed that peace, love and communal care - along with a massive dose of really cool music make for a great world.So, a pilgrimage for me to Bethel Woods (only 90 minutes from NYC) to the site of the concert and the fantastic museum that is now there. ...

      We had clean clothes, now we needed clean bodies. We had been having good luck at finding YMCAs for a good price so we headed to the YMCA in Cranston. It was 10$ each for the day pass but an amazing lady who was working there decided to let us use her guest passes so that we could go in for free. Maybe she smelled us and took pity?       ... couple of road signs that said 'Thickly Settled', which I was mystified by (are they talking about my waistline?) It turns out that it means densely populated and you must not drive more than 30 mph. Who knew?

      The end of the day brought us to Mystic, CT. We walked around a bit as the sun was going down, catching some beautiful light and chatting with a road-tripping couple from Seattle. They have a motorhome and are spending a year on the road. I'm envious.

      ... and skateboarders too. Yale was founded in 1701 and today it retains its old world charm. The university has grown over the years and even as late as 2007 new additions have been made, some in a mock 18th century style, others using modern architectural design - an odd mixture when viewed side by side. We did spot the occasional Yale-sweater-toting student, but the place seemed to lack the hustle and bustle we'd felt at Harvard. An interesting halt ...
