... out of the three of the girls, so she led us up the block a few streets and we caught the funicular ride for 80 NOK, approximately $13. The funicular is a sort of inclined train that takes you up the side of a mountain. In this case, we traveled up 1,000 feet to the top of Mount Floyen. ... Hakon's hall built in Viking times and picked up some reindeer sausage. As you do. They had whale and moose available too, but we have it on good authority that whale tastes like bad kidney and we wouldn't have chosen it anyway. We picked up some seafood chowder for a late lunch by the wharf- very rich, very traditional - and one of the few meals we had out in Bergen.
We were sad to finish our time en famille, but heartened by the prospect of fun times in Cambridge ahead! ...

I shoved a few dollars in his hand and he shoved a pen in mine.

‘Sign here please’ I heard him say through the muffled sound of my earplugs.

Despite fitting it all on one tray, breakfast was quite substantial even down to the ham, egg and cheese muffin.

With this unexpected but in retrospect, welcome turn of events we were on the shuttle bus by 07:30.

Sotra Rorbusenter, south-west on the island of Sotra outside Bergen , lies in a picturesque setting in a shallow bay, and is a great spot for fishing. About 35 minutes' drive from Bergen or Bergen Airport, Flesland. Whether you want to fish, rent a boat, go on a fishing trip on a bigger boat, go walking, bathe in the Jacuzzi or just relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, Sotra Rorbusenter is the place for you. Or perhaps you are looking for somewhere to hold a meeting or a workshop in a calm, relaxing atmosphere? Sotra Rorbusenter has 10 rorbu (traditional fishermen's style) flats to let, parking for caravans/camper vans, a relaxation centre with a Jacuzzi, sauna, sunbed etc. Reception/kiosk where you can buy basic articles and fishing equipment. Unit 1 sleep six people and have two bedrooms, a combined sitting room/kitchen and a nice bathroom/washroom. Unit 3 sleeps 10 people. At Sotra Rorbusenter you can rent a boat for a couple of hours, a day or several days, whether you live here or not. We have plastic boats with outboard motors and wooden boats with diesel engines. There are good fishing spots just a couple of minutes' drive from the centre. If you do not want to drive a boat yourself, you can go on a fishing trip on a bigger boat with a skipper, or you can enjoy rod fishing straight from the quay.
