We made it to Mexico after 30 hours of travel. We had a great feast of mexican last night while listening to a mariachi band play and the flambe waiters make all sorts of desserts, coffees and lobster. It felt great to sit in the humid heat and be on vacation.
My pina coloada was the length of my arm! Watched Buffalo clobber ...
Sooo......
We heard from the people at our Hostel that we would not like Cancun beacuse it was too touristy. I figured how bad can it be, it should have a nice beach, I can drink beer and walk around and look at stores.
Wrong! We eventually stopped going to any stores because the people were too aggressive trying to sell you things. This is the only time this happened to us in Mexico. It was driving us insane we ...
... Maya then left the city when the planting season came. This was their custom, and all local wars were suspended during the harvest season, a clear example of priorities for these indigenous peoples. Possession of a city was useless if they could not feed their families. Regrettably the Spanish had no such priorities and the war ended as the natives were massacred in their fields.
Then they drive back to Cancun and meet the rest of the family who had ...
... ability quiet for now. The list says there are 5 guys, and 10 girls (inc Jen + I) I wonder what they´re like..... Either way, I´m always sticking with at least one of them from now on! So conclusion (that´s alot to read!) 1 - I am a fool. 2 - I am a success as I DID make my way back 3 - I got to see seriously downtown Cancun and all it cost me was an hour, an extra bus ticket, and serious amounts of panic/worry. Wahey. ooooooopsss.... XX
Cancun, Mexico fiwarranderAfter nearly missing our plane to Cancun, we settle in for our uneventful 5 hour flight. On the ground in Cancun we find all ATMs to be out of service. We locate a shuttle van that takes credit cards and head to the hotel zone. Three years ago when we were here we didn't ever get to the resort/hotel/beach area before we left. We are surprised, no astonished, perhaps even disgusted at the vast Americanization. We expected some; a lot even, but ...
Cancun, Mexico azmarine... roll) back to the hotel and a really good night's sleep. Reflection - Playa Del Mar was planned as a Christmas chill out and was very enjoyable, even if we did not relax as much as we had intended. This tourist area was a good balance of sights, facilities, restaurants and not quite too much tourism. Thanks John and Dot - the best was the Mexican food !! (oh and definitely the Xcaret swim). My thanks to diving buddies, Franco and Gabriela from Buenos Aires, for the excellent cenote photos.
Cancun, Mexico, Mexico harryandnorah... It was pretty cool. Lastly the crowd got the pleasure of a dance performance from the dolphins before it was time to exit the water and return to life on land. This experience will definitely make Geraldine's 'Top 10 Adventures' list. During the afternoon we enjoyed splashing around in the wave pool, zipping down the tube slide and getting airborne while descending the ultra fast slide called Kamakazi. It was nice to spend a day playing around. The water park ...
Cancun, Mexico mikeandger... gardenlike area with fountains, sculptures, waterfalls and of course a beautiful pool landscape with little bridges to cross over and a lagoon that is separated by a big breaker wall from the ocean. We had lunch at one of the open air restaurants and the food at the Aventura Spa Palace was amazing. There was a lot of choice at the Moon Palace, but there were just unlimited options at the Aventura Spa Palace ...
Cancun, Mexico schlossie... a commercial radio station back home. I've taken the decision not to visit bars that are playing Nickelback and it's considerably lowered my options. Cancun's favourite song? With Or Without You by U2. It's everywhere. Anyway, I need tacos and cheap Sol. Adios. Oh, no photos today either. I can't be ***** to work out how to do it yet. Sorry. 12th Jan 2006, 11.30am Decided not to start another page for today as I've done sod all. And why the hell ...
Cancun, Mexico guscaesarCancun!
