... was outrageous, sooooo many trucks and of course everything travelling very quickly. It was most tiring for John as the driver. The closer we got to Milan the worse it got, anyway, we survived. Luckily the road basically bypasses Milan and we were soon in Como.

We’d booked a nice hotel near to Heathrow with the intention of using it merely as a stopover before our flight to Canada. However, plans had changed and we decided to try and get into the city to catch up with George and Maree who were staying in Mayfair. It proved to be a rather challenging mission………..!

We landed about 5.30pm but as usual ...

... all the while how beautiful it would be on a fine day, with its huge, shady trees, and the little bridge over the pond. I commented to Wok that there were European carp in the water, and he reminded me that it was probably OK since we are in Europe. The rain persisted, so we went back to the Galleria to take shelter for a while, and look at all the beautiful things we are never going to buy. Then we headed for our hotel, only getting lost briefly, for ...
