... markets. Our experience of nightlife has been varied over the last couple of weeks: KL's was thriving, but Georgetown seemed to have a much earlier curfew, so we had no idea what to expect from our first stop in Thailand. It was soon clear that Songkhla runs to an even earlier finish time than George Town; after we'd enjoyed a jug of Chinese iced tea and two sea bass dishes, the restaurant closed and at 9pm we wandered back through near-deserted streets and spent a ...

Ok so the houseboat party was a pretty epic and amusing way to start but it was time to escape the non-stop rush and smog of the big smoke and head south to Songkhla were we have been VERY kindly looked after by a family friend and his family called Martin.

decides he had better drink a beer to get rid of the hangover. Chang
export in a can. He pays 20 baht and goes into the shower at the
train station. He takes a long shower, reviving himself. Everything
was intact. He slept somewhere in downtown Bangkok in a black out and
didn't get robbed or raped or even arrested. The shower feels very
good. Hangover receding, unlike the flood waters.

Arrived in Hat Yai at 10am, had to go through Thai customs and they only gave us a 15day visa! Will have to sort that out in Bangkok sometime in the near future! Harrassed by men asking us where we were going as soon as we stepped off the train (tour touts, not just weird men), and decided to draw ...
