Time for wine country. First up we stopped for breakfast in Mendocino, a New England style village just south of Fort Bragg, which was pretty but still a bit gloomy in the fog. We'd followed the coast - and been under cloud cover - so long now that we headed inland in desperate search of the sun, and found ourselves driving through the spectacular Anderson Valley. It was a surprise to find the road here dotted with wineries, and chancing upon Husch Winery, one of very few Californian wines we...

Well it was another stellar day full of sunshine and mid 20's (Celsius). So why not visit California wine country. It is not even an hour from San Francisco so we had a solid day to visit the area. Good thing as there are over 200 wineries crammed into only 30 miles... in the Napa valley alone. We stopped in Napa to see if the Visitors Centre could give us some tips. We wanted to visit Copia, it is a wine centre in Napa that has wine tasting, films, interactive exhibits, a ...
Sonoma, California, United States meganandkevin... system had said we were in a different room and our room was free. So another couple had been allocated for there which cancelled our cards. They were very apologetic and said it had all been corrected. To compensate they said we would not be charged for our first nights stay which was very good of them. Breakfast is complimentary and is served in the room beside Reception. It is a help ...
Sonoma, California, United States arealhighlander... To Americans a car that fits less than 7 passengers, is "tiny". A typical size in here is 7-9 people per car. Gizmo couldn`t believe that fiat Punto is a typical size of a car in Europe. In the night I couldn`t almost sleep. All my body was burning, I felt like my skin was shrinking. What a weird sun is in California, that works even through a fog? Even sunscreen didn`t help, I found out that people use here +30 SPF, usually 50 SPF. Lets put it that way: all of us needed a relaxing day.
Dillon Beach, California, United States bogna... Then North on the 89 ... about 50 miles to Quincy, lovely countryside, rolling hills and nice curvy roads .. much more interesting to ride. Then onto the 70 road through Feather River Canyon ... awesome .. not a straight piece of road for almost 70 miles ... lovely forest and autumn colours, a nice river right beside the road the whole way down .. If I'd stopped every ...
San Francisco, California, United States th0rped042... aware I touched down in San Francisco. This place has to be one of my favorite cities and when I arrived in the afternoon, the place was warm, sunny and everybody I passed seemed to be smiling. (Was not too sure however, what to make of the smiles from the men running down the Embarcadero looking like they had just stepped out of a Duran Duran video.) For the first few days was absolutely crushed by jet lag so 5am in the morning got up and decided to run from my hostel in ...
San Francisco, California, United States timothy... Pope Gregory XIII humbly creates the calender we know today(365 days, leap years, all that). Do not trust any dates prior to this entry. 1587 AD: Huanghua Section of the Great Wall completed north of Beijing. 1618 AD: Angry Bohemians(?) rise up against the Hapsburgs in Prague. The 30 years war erupts after a guy is thrown out of a window in prague. 1648 AD: Noting that 30 years has elapsed, participants of the 30 years war stop fighting. 1687 AD ...
