... Emmanuela, who came to Australia 2 years ago and did a bit of babysitting for myself and Brooke. It was a really fun night, Emmanuela has 2 younger brothers who are 14 and 16, and after dinner they kept the kids very entertained with play station, computer games and playing soccer. We had an amazing 4 course meal and lots of wine and grappa! We were there till 11pm, so they boys did very well to last that long as only Luca had managed to get a nap in the car during the ...

Time to leave Valle Verde. Decided to give Austria
another try as we are hearing that the weather has improved. However, with low
cloud this morning, there is little point in going over the high Dolomite

Decided to go north through Moena and then west over a lower
pass to Bolzano. As expected, the low cloud made for little viewing of the
mountain peaks.

A Restful 5 Days.....

... to Predazzo, then Ziano, Tesero and the wooden bridge at
Cavalese. Unfortunately the gondolas at Cavalese are closed on Monday and
Tuesday. Rained a bit on the way back. Stopped for strudel/gelato/cappuccino in
Predazza and some grocery shopping. Rained even ********* the last leg back to
the campsite.

We’ve been on the road in Europe one month today.

The weather has been better than expected. Low cloud
initially in Cortina but then improving. No rain at all, despite the forecast,
other than the odd spot or two. Just goes to show that the forecasting in this
region is a black art still.

Checked out of Toblacher See. Again we got caught out
with electricity and heating. Only 3kW per day was free and we had used 35 kW
in total over 4 nights, so we had to pay for an extra 23 kW at 70 cents/kW, on
top of the 18 euro per night site fee (we were now able to get the ACSI CC rate
as we were in low season. Heating was only on a low setting but nevertheless,
