Getreidegasse is probably most famous for it's old-style shop signs. .. even the "golden arches" of McDonalds have had to conform. A few more "advent" or "xmas" markets are found in little squares along the way.. each has it's own unique style.. and plenty drinking the hot ...

An afternoon of fabulous coffee shops, wandering in amongst the lanes and walkways on both sides of the river taking in the atmosphere and ambiance of this internationally acclaimed baroque architectural / best-preserved city is a delight...
So are the night views as one ambles back to call it a night.

... Austria still seems to allow smoking indoors as opposed to neighbouring countries like Germany and Switzerland, as far as we can tell. So we went across the square and we were glad that we had been forced to switch.
