... a good example of just how good Balinese artwork really is. So going with my new spontaneous and cccrrraaazzzyyyy way of doing things (plus a nudge in the right direction from Jeff) I walked around the following morning looking for a reputable place that looked clean to get my tat done. I had already decided what I wanted and where...it was just a case of picking the right one. Many people think that dragons are very clichéd and the world and their wife has one...and its ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia chcolateman... watching TV and writing. I stayed up later than I had expected. Time slips away when you immerse yourself filling words onto a page. At midnight, I looked at the clock, surprised to see how much time had lapsed since dinner, and quickly set my alarm so I could hurry up and get to bed! Fridays we don't have class till 10 so I could sleep in. But, Suzanne and I planned to do a longer walk this Friday, beginning at 7. Having to wake up at 6:30 was not sleeping in.
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia snclark8... in a couple of different ways. Wednesday was my beach day (Bali has some GREAT beaches), Thursday was spent exploring the rice terraces by foot which was phenomenal, and Friday was spent touring the island by bus from beach to cultural performance to our last beachfront seafood dinner together. While the stillness of the retreat didn't last long, it was a great trip. After two massages, a facial, and tons of time to read, reflect and pray, I shall ...
Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia lizrussosmells... front desk after a torturous journey to try and find our hotel since I had misspelled the name in my email. Jake was off on the Gili islands with his Australian girl, Kellie, and we would meet him when we were in Lombok. Alas, the Koh Tao crew was reunited. We grabbed dinner on the beach around the corner from our hotel and caught each other up on our various adventures since we had split ways. We made Steve and Matt intensely jealous and left them with their ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia chiapoe... very suiting :-)) Looking around, it is a very quaint city - lots of cute little shops, not so many people hawking cheap tacky souvenirs at the side of the road. Paradise really. We're looking forward to spending the next 4 days here in Ubud... the instant feel of relaxation is priceless. Hoping to do cycling and rafting tours plus some shopping and relaxing... Can't wait!!! Shaunta
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia moncasters... lesson and received some good tips which allowed me to judge the waves on my own and by the end of that lesson I was able to catch the waves fine but there was still some issues with stance and balance at times. Practice practice practice is now the name of the game. I hear there's some surfing in Australia (unless Home and Away has been lying to me for all these years) so maybe there. We also took a day to go diving having heard it was ...
Denpasar, Indonesia bshorts... up every day with DVDs and Watches. Not much has changed in 18 months. Went kayaking (on a double) Won the Thursday Quiz with an English couple and a lady from Queensland. Sang karaoke. Only went to Kuta twice! (a new record for megan) Oh. flew home on Saturday morning, back to 5 degrees.
Nusa Dua, Indonesia bclapp... lotus flower behind the ear as we walked in, to the parrots and other exotic birds that were placed on our shoulders! After this strange experience we carried on with our walk intending to reach the river, however a mixture of our bad navigating skills and lack of detail in the guidebook got us slightly lost. Luckily we were rescued by a random local guy who, after giving us directions to the river, ended up taking us on an hour long guided tour through beautiful green rice ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia willndebs... cost like $4 for all this time. LOL! Thanks for reading and thanks for all the comments. I love hearing from you guys! Miss you and I hope some of this sunshine I'm sending is melting the snow! *A Lassie is an Australian drink made from yogurt and and palm sugar with any kind of fruit you'd like to add. It's become a daily staple for me, and my favorite have become the Banana Lassies, although the Strawberry and Mango ones are really great too.
Ubud, Indonesia suzettesp... but did manage to lessen the pain overall. Our second day in Bali was Verdi's 28th birthday so we set out a grand schedule of activities to fill our day; lounging by the pool, reading our books and cooling off when the need arose. The afternoon was to become progressively more strenuous with a 3-hour pampering session at the hotel spa. The session included a full body massage with a turmeric scrub and a dousing in yoghurt followed by an hour relaxing in a flower ...
