... through the park, we made it to Lake Bled. Bled is a resort town that is touristy, yet tranquil & gorgeous! Our first order of business was laundry. Of course, now we find out that laundromats are few & far between in this country. So, rather than spend more than $100 to have the hotel to do (priced by the piece, not the load!), we decided to find ...

... we could only imagine how they did it. I recalled passing a sign at some point that indicated a toll road but nothing eventuated for over 150km. I would mutter reassuringly in his ears but I doubt he barely had a grasp of Slovenian, let alone English and without warning, he would graduate from walking pace to a full on canter with me yanking desperately at the reins and asking him politely to slow down a wee bit because I was on the verge of a coronary.

Before long, our trek had taken us into the beautiful forests and lakes of the national park and ...

Majestic Lake Bled

Originally, we never intended to travel to Lake Bled and had it not been the fact it had proved near impossible to plan our itinerary to Italy from Croatia, we would never have been lucky enough to see Lake Bled at all. By travelling through Slovenia, it halved our journey time and reduced the amount of time spent on trains. We had initially considered taking overnight trains to save on accommodation but knew that unless we invested in bunks, which we ...
