... friends we met at a hostel in San Francisco 2 1/2 years ago (The Green Tortoise) on our first major trip - one lives in Munich and one in Berlin. They told us if we ever came to Europe we'd have a place to stay with them in Germany - a promise we really weren't sure we would ever take advantage of! Although we only spent 2-3 days with them in San Fran, we've kept in touch via Facebook and are very much looking forward to catching up with them and seeing their part of the world. Cheers! ...

Isn’t it a strange quirk of fate that in Austria, the place that is probably one of the safest on our journey (“good and clean and fresh, tra la la!” comes to mind when I picture it), is the spot where we experienced our first major oops?

Expect the unexpected and be grateful that it could be worse and boy, we really appreciate the awning ...

Amongst other sights we spot the steepest rack railway in Austria, the oldest paddle steamer in Austria, several parapenters, a couple if brave/stupid souls climbing a sheer cliff above the water.
