Late this morning, after we had packed the car and given up hope of visiting Patrick (Paddy) Leigh Fermor's house, Mary got a call with the green light from the Benaki Museum in Athens. We walked there (half a mile along a public path) and were greeted by Elpida, supervisor of the house and Paddy's caretaker during the last 7 years of his long life. She showed us around (no photos inside) and told great strides with great affection for her old boss. ...

Today we walked in the oldtown, lunched by the water, and swam in a dazzling cove. Dan also jumped a wall to see the home of the late, great British travel writer Patrick Leigh ...

- It's rare to see a local drinking a beer on the beach or in a cafe, the freddo espresso is the only beverage of choice on a hot day, so well that means everyday here. - Bathrooms 95 percent of the time have no locks, ask me why? No ******* idea. - It's so common I almost forgot, you never see toilet seats in restrooms - Water is always free at a restaurant, cafe ect. or at least in my experiences up to this point. - Think small town, small price, think again. In Amaliada ...

... wine.

DESSERT: Finally guests have two options and I tried both.

The fruit platter is at €14.00 and the delicacy of the restaurant is the Chocolate and biscuit terrine for €9.00

OVERALL: I think the restaurant can easily meet the expectations of demanding guests as the selection is varied and the price reasonable. Superb summer setting, impeccable service, attentive staff. Guys you are great! ...
