      ... really wanted to see what it was like to be down on the moon landscape looking at the volcanos from ground level so we found a trail and set off down the hill. On the way down I saw a horse coming up and said "watch out Kirsty there is a horse", she span round in surprise "what a horse!" Faced the horse and fell over...       ... hours to reach the viewpoint and at around 4h55 in the morning, the fog set in and we couldn't see a thing. The sun rose that morning, I am sure but unfortunately we woke up for nothing since we didn't get a view. On the way down it cleared a bit so we were able to take some nicer pictures.

      ... the people I meet along the way and the kindness of them although they can't believe I'm traveling out here on my own.

      Permatangsiantar and Medan were both cities with really heavy traffic and I didn't hang around too long although Medan had a fantastic Central Mosque and Palace which I enjoyed visiting.       On our last day, our guide Thomas asked us if we wanted to go to the waterfall or go for another trek.
      He totally tricked us into going on the hardest trek on the island.

      ... 8217;m not one to shun my fans so I duly obliged before asking the Malaysian girl what it was all about. She explained that a lot of the locals are fascinated with westerners as they look ‘exotic’ (not sure I’ve ever been called that before) and it was a common thing in Yogyakarta and Mt Bromo. Very strange!
