... in his car and drove along the golf course for 5 minutes or so before arriving at a work site. We were greeted by a man and woman dressed nicely, she was carrying a shade umbrella and he had a clipboard under his arm. As we were being introduced by the man we had rented the house from, I got the impression that we were among very few Westerners to visit this area of the city/ country, and we were about to get a formal tour of this resort. First off, we were ...

Rounding our last corner we were greeting by the raging river and couldn't be happier to strip out of our soaking wet sweaty clothes and go swimming. The water was cold, but felt good against my hot body and relaxed my muscles instantly.

... I can recommend to go to this place. It's like you're a moviestar. I don't remember how often random people wanted to take a picture with me. The tourists that visit Sumatra are mainly Asian, so I was an exotic one :) Everyone is really excited to see a Western tourist and want to touch you and talk English. Also, Bukit Lawang is pretty much disconnected from the outside world; they have internet in the village since 2010 (can you imagine!). It is still very ...
