Brought brekky this morning at the Cologne railway station because we discovered they have lovely yogurt and muesli. Then we went shopping. I bought a pair of German shoes, made in Hamburg, for $52! Rosanne bought a very comfortable pair of new season shoes for a little more. While we were in the hotel lounge this morning we overheard a group of Brits on a coach tour being corralled into where they needed to go by their super efficient tour guide and made a ...

We set out this morning to find a breakfast place in the old city of Cologne. On the way we came across a wedding at what we think was city hall. Actually more than one. While we were watching the gathered masses another wedding car, a beatle VDub, arrived with an older, maybe second time around couple in it. As you can see from the pic balloons and palm branches were the go. We finally found a corner cafe that had nice brekky and had attempted to hold onto the ...

Found unbelievable bargain at a 5* Hotel. & couldn't resist. To put it into context the breakfast cost 50% of the room rate! We didn't have breakfast! Even better, parking was also extra but as GG was too tall for their underground car park, we had to park with the smart cars in front of the Hotel at no charge. Hilarious!

... is called "4711,, which was the address of the store that sold it.

As we continued on our walking tour of the city we learned that we would NOT be able to enter the cathedral today as it was closed because of a funeral for a prominent citizen. Disappointment prevailed! We later learned that several of our fellow travelers have been to Cologne before and also were not able to enter the church when they were here. For one gentlemen this was ...

    So calm in Cologne

The bus pulled up in cologne early evening and the rain that was forecast had already set in for the night. I made the short walk to the hostel, and only ventured out to buy food and beer! My beer for the evening was Krombacher, arguably one of Germany's worst beers! After waiting over 30 minutes for the cooker to be free, I finally managed to make my dinner. I chose against venturing out in the rain and instead had a night in, needing to recover ...
