If we had stayed longer, we would have hired a car, as we were a little isolated where we were (which wasn't a bad thing) but there are some amazing isolated beaches and some cheese factories and shoe factories (mainly for Lozza's purposes) that would be worth checking out. And if you are interested in checking out the other towns on the Island, a car is essential, as public transport is mainly taxis which would whack a fair chunk out of the bank account.
