Siiiiiiiiii

Another idylic Hollywood set

We arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.

Watersports on the Bahai de Pollença

We left Ciutadella around 8 AM to cross back over to Mallorco and into the Bahai de Pollença. It is a deep cut and large protected bay on the northwest corner of the island. We anchored out in the bay, away from other boats and the crew setup everything for watersports. Since everyone was more spread out and busy with different ...

... cave tour we took the heli to the yacht which was approaching Minorca island when we landed aboard. It was close to 6 PM, so we washed up and had dinner on the sun deck at 7 PM while we watched the sunset and as we entered long entrance to the Mahón harbor, the second deepest natural harbor in the world.

Family Holidays

... bad at all!
And in the evening we all went out for a big dinner, before my sister and her friend set off to Germany the next morning already.

So I spend a lovely time with my parents, sleeping in in the mornings, having a big breakfast, spending the afternoon at the beach, enjoying the sun and the breeze, having yummy spanish food for dinner! Just perfect to relax!

After-Exam Holiday with the girls

... gambas, eating tapas and a lot of Aioli, hmmmm! And always enjoying some nice glasses (or should I say bottles?) of wine! Just great!
Of course we also went out to have professional Tapas as well, excellent!

So just a very nice, relaxed holiday which we really enjoyed!
Just wanted to go back as soon as we got back home ;-)
Thanks girls for such a good time- hope we can establish this as a tradition!

Orient and Sóller

... I climbed the road up the hill to photograph it but found the small area in front of the church filled with trucks that had apparently come up from Palma for some film project. There would have been no way to get a picture of the church without having it half-obscured by the trucks.

The road to Orient is a very narrow little track with lots of 180 degree switchbacks that had me turning the wheel of my little car until it hit the stop in order to make it ...

... the road along the cape took longer than I would have expected due both to the ruggedness of the terrain and resulting twists and turn of the road, but also due to the time I took trying to find some little spot where I could safely squeeze my car into a space off the road to stop and take pictures. The cliffs are quite sheer right down to the Mediterranean and the road eeks out a narrow and twisting route along those cliffs ...

The first family trip

Maths in the square at night, being awesome at the quiz, teaching it to swim, vodka and top trumps each night, the boy crying about play club, the boy loving play club, the convertible red beast (megane), fred dancing with me, all the AWFUL people that go to those places (us not included)

... practically had no work to do so he asked for the rest of the day off. He drove us around Porto Petro and its neighbouring towns, showed us some amazing beaches, a fortress, an old lighthouse, and the more touristy part of the island which was Cala d'Or, the next town down. Back in Porto Petro we stopped at the local supermarket for some beers. Bernie mentioned that the lady that owned it, Antonia, owned half the town and she would be the ...
