Flight was good, as well as you can be after 14 hours in a metal tube. Hammad Airport is a beautiful airport at the end of the city sticking out into the Persian Gulf (now called Arabian Gulf). Asif, our driver was waiting to shuttle us to our apt. We got our first look of Doha at night. It is lit up like The Vegas strip.

... But surely, I digress :) so back to my subject. Pei sought his inspiration for this building in other traditional "Qataresque" buildings, as well as looking to islamic art and most certainly drawing in modern elements of design, for which he is most famous. There was also a particular aim to show off the view, as the Museum looks across the bay to the main business section of the city, which is renowned for its many architectural structures. If you were an architect ...

Unfortunately, the guy at Bahrain must've forgotten to put the priority luggage tags on my cases as mine took forever to arrive but they soon turned up and then the strangest ...
