... to satisfy her co-workers and took the first exit to join Andy. After the second leg of the falls Jarod had had enough and was too scared to keep going, so he took the second exit and joined Mom and Andy. Dan, Jessica and I were having a great time, though, and went all the way to the top. We don’t have any pictures to post as our camera is not waterproof so we didn’t bring it, but we do have a copy of the video. I’d rather not talk about how long it took to ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica adelleg... were really keen for sales. We just bought some sunscreen and came back on board the ship. We all went back to the H2O zone and enjoyed the relatively empty pool area.

It was another incredibly hot day so it was very relaxing to just kick back and hang out by the pool. Now THIS is a holiday!!

After dinner we put the girls to bed and went watch the show.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica youngsinusa2009Ocho is an interesting city, divided by a straight line, on one side (from the center to the port), relatively safe area day and night, upscale boutique, restaurants and on the other side, the chaos and not so safe area. There are a few hundreds meters of beachfront.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica gratien... ride. He had been doing this for about 15 years after taking the job when his father retired. The rafts have to be replaced every few months and we were fortunate to have a new one. The water was low and very calm. He stopped along the way and gave us fresh apples which he washed in the river. Lets just say I wasn't interested in ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica gre.travels... all went. Zip-lining is when you are in a harness that hangs on a steel cable tied between trees and you slide or 'zip' on the cable from tree to tree leaping from one platform and landing on another one. You travel at speeds up to 40 mph and you can be very high off the ground. It is not for the faint hearted or someone afraid of heights but it is very exhilarating for those ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica thetraveldog... resort with a lot of peace and quiet, you may want to consider someplace else. But if you are into the fun party atmosphere this is a great choice.
In keeping with the Italian theme, Sandals has brought in some great evening entertainment including Cuban Dancers and even a Jamacian opera singer named Rorie. I was skeptical at first, but it works and people love him. He's also a good friend, and fellow diver. You won't be able ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica caribbean_fever... like bills and less free time. I've learned a lot while in the Peace Corps, and one important lesson that I intend to apply to my new life will be the importance of balance. Work hard, but play hard too. A balanced life is an ideal that I'm not disregarding in my effort to start my career and in my efforts to find a good job. Well, I think that's all for now. I hope you are happy and healthy, and 2007 brings much peace and mindfulness to your life. - Jennifer
Ocho Rios, Jamaica jennipost... a lot to learn about living with other peoples and appreciating them at all times, and not just when the light is right. Later in the week... Good thing I went to the beach that day, it's been raining since then. The rain is nice change, it has been so hot and dry lately, the plants AND the people need the water. I hope all is well with everyone. Thanks for all the responses to my recent post; it makes me feel good that you all read them. Take care. Peace, Jenni
Ocho Rios, Jamaica jennipost... found myself in the midst of the Ocho Rios market. Kara and I stepped out of taxi and were instantly consumed by a swarm of shop owners offering us coffee, crafts, and the occasional zip-locked baggie of cannabis. "Come with me mon. I will be your friend and show you the shops", a mellow, low and soothing voice arose from this mass of madness. "I will bring you to my shop and show you my things. If you like what you see, then we make a deal. If you don't like what ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica nklenskeThis was a horrible nasty little place I hope to never see again. When you walk down the street, it is filthy and taxi drivers nag at you and then throw insults when you refuse to take a taxi. I Came. I Saw. I LEFT! One almost saving feature of this hideous place was swimming in the water, but even that turned south when I felt what I believe to be a sewer pipe under my feet.
