... This was the only one we have found in
Finland but very expensive! Washing machines were in three sizes with prices ranging from 6 Euro ($9A) for the small one to 18 Euro ($27A) for the big one! And we had a lot of washing.
We stayed at a lovely rest area about an hour out of Tampere. It was beside a little lake and the reflections were lovely.
A very quiet and peaceful evening, blessed with no midges as it was cold but this made the skies clearer and the light and colours spectacular. We walked a little, enjoyed our evening meal with some wine and a good, long sleep. En route to Tampere now for a look see and perhaps a shop before we find somewhere for the night, we shall see! Having been here before helped ...
... river which links the two which provides the city with its power. There are still some examples of fine red-brick Victorian buildings, but mainly Tampere is like other Finnish cities.
The hotel is perfectly acceptable, clean and Scandinavian, although the rooms are a little small. But the very thick curtains really help with the short nights in summer.
We went for dinner at a revolving restaurant on top of ...
... enough, a late start but when in Rome, err.....Finland, etc. We ended up going on at midnight to a small but enthusiastic crowd of locals, some of which were huge. I swear at least one of their parents was a Winnabago. We noticed the crowd looking a bit bemused at one point and when we asked the BRM lads what that was all about, they said "I think you might have been a little bit loud for them". Good to see we're living up to our reputation ...
... A few of the band members switched instruments mid set which I thought was cool. They also had a trumpet slash keyboard player.. a little something extra to colour the bands sounds.
We didn't get to see the end of their set which was a bit of a shame.. but we were all a bit over it. We left Kaisa at the gig and made our way back to the apartment. We all needed to be up at a reasonable hour.
Next stop will be Stockholm..
