A very quiet and peaceful evening, blessed with no midges as it was cold but this made the skies clearer and the light and colours spectacular. We walked a little, enjoyed our evening meal with some wine and a good, long sleep. En route to Tampere now for a look see and perhaps a shop before we find somewhere for the night, we shall see! Having been here before helped ...

... where I was picked up by Mikko for the drive to Tampere.

Tampere is 150km north of Helsinki but it's not a particularly exciting drive. The motorway is empty by English standards and the route is largely through featureless forests. The wild lupine on the side of the road ad colour, with large drifts of blue and pink.

Tampere is situated on an isthmus between two lakes with an 18m difference in level and it ...

23 May 2014: Today was mostly just another travel day as we made the mundane bus trip from Turku to Tampere. Arriving in the late afternoon, we threw are bags on our backs and walked about a mile to our hostel, which was nothing special, but did have a decent view of the busy street just below the window. Starving, we didn't waste any time grabbing a late lunch. The restaurant, called Napoli's, was just across the street, and, was an ...

... enough, a late start but when in Rome, err.....Finland, etc. We ended up going on at midnight to a small but enthusiastic crowd of locals, some of which were huge. I swear at least one of their parents was a Winnabago. We noticed the crowd looking a bit bemused at one point and when we asked the BRM lads what that was all about, they said "I think you might have been a little bit loud for them". Good to see we're living up to our reputation ...

... A few of the band members switched instruments mid set which I thought was cool. They also had a trumpet slash keyboard player.. a little something extra to colour the bands sounds.

We didn't get to see the end of their set which was a bit of a shame.. but we were all a bit over it. We left Kaisa at the gig and made our way back to the apartment. We all needed to be up at a reasonable hour.

    Next stop will be Stockholm..
