Boiled the kettle (aka saucepan) for our first cup of tea. It's cold!! The rain only got heavier, so we decided to give the ride a miss and go for a Wienerschnitzel instead! After lunch we walked to another cafe to use their wifi. We started with hot chocolate and apple strudel, and finished with a beer! After dinner we chatted again with Adele and Trevor, then we watched a movie in bed! It's so ...

We got up early and did a 50km loop before the forecast storms. Was a lovely ride! We went over Passo Compolongo (opposite direction), Passo Falzarego and Passo Valparola. We snoozed when we got back to the van and had some warm left over curry for lunch. We had a platter of cheese, speck, crackers, carrots and apple for dinner, followed by our local Dolomites yoghurt. It's cold tonight!! Almost need to invest in a hot water ...

This area was devastated by a huge earthquake in 2009. The epicentre was right here in the area where we are staying. Nearly 300 died and many buildings were damaged beyond repair. The nearby town of Fossa remains mostly empty. Derek walked through it and said it is very sad. ...

Sad to leave Sorrento

Had a real sleep-in. Woke at 7.30!! Breakfast and then packing for the next adventure. This has been a wonderful few days. The hotel is excellent and the view is truly spectacular. Our room 214 with a huge balcony was the pick of the bunch. While I was blogging a big gull settled on a post next to me. We shopped some more then departed at 12 noon. Quite sad for me.
What was meant to be a three and a half hour drive turned into five and a ...
