... hallway if you wished to put on a show. Second, the shower worked by rotating a handle to get water that sprayed from a movable nozzle, a nozzle above your head and a series of nozzles mounted horizontally to the shower wall that sprayed at you horizontally. Another awesome bathroom was our bathroom in Seville. It had my favorite toilet so far. Everytime the toilet was flushed it groaned loudly for ten to fiftenn minutes. Miss you all and hope to talk to you soon.
Évora, Alentejo, Portugal swints... left the cafe with enough time to get to the bus station. Once we got there though, we found out it was a holiday, All Saints Day, and we just missed the last bus! The guy at the ticket desk said we could catch a bus to Portel, 30 min. south and then hitch from there, only option since we already paid for a ccomodations and a taxi back would be 80 euros! So we catch the bus and arrive in Portel where a couple of ...
Évora, Alentejo, Portugal ckulenguski... is a meditation on the human condition for the Franciscans. They took artistic license, and pelvises encased heads, small bones in the arm form wings on a ghoulish skeleton in the archway, and the mummies of a young child and a man even hang from one of the chapel's walls. Tomorrow, we head to Lagos, an area famous for beaches and bars in The Algarve region of southern Portugal. We will probably melt, but we plan to have fun in the process. More soon. Ciao from Portugal.
Évora, Alentejo, Portugal ryanandpattiif portugal had a version of bath-spa, evora would probably be it. a tiny walled-town of roman origins, it's a fun place to walk around, grab some of the many local dishes, and get lost in the narrow alley-way streets that have discovery after discovery everywhere one turns. of note, the intercity buses here have stewardesses on ...
Évora, Alentejo, Portugal domhnall... and fresh made potato chips. It was all very good. The waiters have been so friendly and helped us with our meal choices and so far, we have been very satisfied. After lunch we headed back to the train station for our trip back to Lisbon. We arrived relatively early - so as I am waiting for the laundry to finish up I decided to get today's travelpod ready and you will receive two today...which might mean that you don't get one tomorrow.... Hope you enjoyed Evora.
Évora, Portugal jimstephkruegerAnd then we crossed the border. I looked at Lucy and said, we are now in Portugal, in a French car, which is Spanish registered, my passport is British and my driving license is Australian, I'm all confused, what am I. She looked at me and said it's simple. You are a ****wit. And you know what, she is right !!! The Story Five days short of nine years ago, we set off in the old Chookmobile, which was our camper if you did not know, from Lisboa, destination Evora. We had read in ...
Evora, Portugal uncle_davros... forget the reasoning, something about reminding us all of our imminent deaths. The full skeletons of a father and child hang in one corner. Glad I brought the tripod for that one. Then it came down to people watching in the plaza, buying roasted chestnuts, listening to university students play classical music around a fountain, and exploring the winding alleys of a well preserved ancient city. Occasionally we had to dodge the large tour groups, but it´s ...
Evora, Portugal hippler... its not and its dead here. You can actually sit at a cafe in one of the squares and see 3 of the 4 tourists sites from your seat!! Although, having said that, the capela dos ossos is really gruesome and worth seeing. Strangely enough even though it's centuries old it still smells like the back of a butchers. Its actually a chapel made entirely of human bones. Across from the chapel is the market which is quite cool too and has yummy cheese (ask for ...
Evora, Portugal lexigerber... or a nearby city. Roman ruins in Evora My diet hasn't been good as of late. I tend to be traveling about during the day so just snack on whatever I have with me (cookies) and that turns out to be my lunch. I haven't deciphered the Portuguese menus for food so tend to look for something I recognize. Yesterday while wandering I was thinking a good 'ol club sandwich would be really nice (the kind they make back home, not here) and came upon a ...
Evora, Portugal twittg... 5 x 7 ft "veranda"...and air conditioning! We spent the day wandering the narrow, cobblestoned lanes. Lots to see--rooster-themed pottery, friendly dogs, moorish influenced tiles, a church with mismatched bell towers/steeples. I especially liked the looks of one shop, where behind the counter there were hundreds of wrought iron key hole / door latch covers in Moorish, gothic styles and also all these arabic/syrian lamps with the beaded shades. For 2 days ...
