Finally Fatima
Well, not quite what I expected. A huge piazza, bigger than St Peters in Rome with modern buildings. Sintra - Unesco World Heritage centre
... my way down very gently! I sat for a while in the Cafe Paris reading my book, whilst waiting for Timothy to get back from his wanderings. We then walked down to the train station, passing a few market stall holders on the way. I did buy two necklaces for 5 Euros each.
We had dinner in a fantastic fish restaurant, one that was recommended in Timothy's tour guide book, and which was just a few steps from our hotel.

... the palace but the underground tunnels. These tunnels would take you between a waterfall, an unfinished well and a subterranean tower 27 meters deep. It was pitch black in these tunnels and people were using their phones as flashlights. The tunnels would weave all through the gardens and it was a surprise where you would come out. Country Stay
... this one I was actually happy we went to. I was happy because the convent was a multi-level building connected by lots of little hallways and staircases. Spent most of my time wandering. Drove back to Lisbon in the afternoon. Today went to the beach in the morning. It was just as cold as before so once again I did not actually swim. Spent the rest of the day just looking around the town. Not sure what we will do tomorrow but I'm sure something interesting will ...

We spent our last day in Lisbon riding the famous tram line number 28. These old trams trundle along all these tiny streets only big enough for the tram itself.
We then flew back to Madrid to catch our plane to South America for the next leg of the journey.
