    ... The skipper was very apologetic and came over as soon as he could to explain - but as we've had our reverse gear go at crucial moments too we could symptahise. Our rudders were working and despite how hard he'd hit us the only real damage was to the paint, thankfully.

    Nonetheless, we were very glad to leave when the tide came up again, and even gladder that the instructions we'd received kept us safely away from going aground this time.

    We left Faro in the fog, with the rain starting to fall. It was not a promising start, but we didn't have too far to go to Ria Guardiana, which forms the border between Portugal and Spain. The rain cleared up before long, as it happened, and by the time we reached Vila Real, on the Portuguese side, the sun was out and it was another glorious day.

    ... a table at the Bob Dylan concert with a very nice British couple last night, and had agreed to have dinner together tonight. They drove to a rather plain roadside restaurant about five miles away, and we were able to get a table outside. It was delicious! I had sea bream, that must have been caught today.
