It really is a shame we already booked our flight to France from Porto. We could have easily stayed an extra week in Portugal, there is so much to see here. But we did pretty good with our 2 days in Porto. It's right on the river and the ocean, and on one side of the river are tons of cute, old tiled homes, that look across to the other side of the bank where all of the old Port ...

Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal europapart123... city. Narrow streets tumbling down to the river with washing hanging from the windows. Lots of bridges, trams and traffic. One side of the river was the centre for the production of port. We went to one of them and sampled some of the product.

We stayed about 100 meters from the sea. Miles and miles and miles of golden sand and boardwalks. We did a lot of walking and a lot of cycling. Beautiful weather. We then moved onto Aveiro further down the coast.
Porto, Porto, Portugal mikeandsuecuff... the better part of an hour looking for any restaurant that was opened. Our meals were : a tuna salad (a can of tuna, unrippened tomatoes and lettuce) and pork (a peice of pork, rice and french fries.) Long story short we were more then enthusiastic to get on the road in the morning to leave Porto behind
Póvoa de Varzim, Porto, Portugal wrklein... samples we went to get lunch at a fancy restaurant on the water. we had some pitchers of beer with lunch and then decided to walk back to the hostel to get our bags. seeing that we were a little late and would have to take a taxi at some point, we decided to take a taxi from downtown to the hostel to pick up the bags. and since we would have to pay for the metro for all of us after that we decided to keep the taxi and take it to the airport. Esteban and Hugo got out ...
Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal aaronstimmel... cucumber, and an unknown sauce). Following dinner Antonio offered me a free glass of Port, and we exchanged a few more words about Portugal and America. What a great time! Today I have spent touring inside the monuments and churches. I began the day on a boat tour up and down the river to see some of the local sites. I also traveled through the most beautiful baroque style church, with a museum and catacombs ...
Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal rlsanderWe woke up to the most glorious day. With visions of spending the day lying on a beach not being fulfilled we headed for the bus station. It was an eight hour trip to Porto including a one hour stop in Lisbon waiting for our connection. We made our way through the town taking one last look at the people enjoying the sun and bidding a fond farewell to Lagos. Jess and I both agreed that we could spend winters here very easily. The first leg of the bus trip was uneventful, with the usual mix ...
Porto, Portugal guykb... wartime neutrality... Nobody bombs the **** out of your cities. We arrived at our budget hotel that is in the perfect location. We had a balcony in a centuries old building overlooking the main square in Porto. We looked out to even more incredible architecture and were able to watch both the city come alive in the morning and light up at night. Breakfast is also included, and all for less than most hostels we have stayed in ...
Porto, Portugal meganandkevin...
