Today we decided to try a day trip that Rob found mentioned on Trip Advisor. We took the train from just down the street from us and travelled along the Douro to Ferradosa a small village on the river. Train trip was about 11/2 hours and cost 13.20E round trip each. ... to the ship for lunch, and then continued our journey back to Porto. As we got closer to the city we began to see signs of urban civilization, including kayakers, and motor home parks at the river's edge!

The Captain's farewell reception and dinner were delightful, and we enjoyed our last look at the lights of Porto from the river. Tomorrow we will begin our trip extension to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

... departed for the very small town of Favaios on our return to the ship. The highlights were the small local museum featuring wine and bread making, and a visit to a bakery where we observed the baker making fresh bread. And of course we sampled it, to be sure that it tasted as good as it looked.

Believe it or not, we were able to stuff down yet another meal at dinner!
