Today we visited Christ the Redeemer on the hottest day since we've been here (around 40 degrees) We got a taxi to the bottom of the corcavado mountain where the 98ft statue sits. Then took a mini bus with the company that look after the national park up the hill. I'm not sure why but I didn't think it was going to be quite as steep as ...

We tried ...

It was certainly quite a site to see. Afterwards we went to the cathedral in the heart of Rio, it was designed so that it appears quite ugly from the outside which was certainly correct, I couldn't believe how ugly it was. ...

... with flowing water on the float. They had African themed floats, they had one with loads of zebras. The costumes and floats were really amazing and the atmosphere in the sambadromo was so amazing. People singing and cheering. I stayed till 2 and by then I couldn't stand up anymore. The section I was in was fine but very crowded and squashed. There was not spaces to sit and I had seen what I came to see. I headed back on the metro and it was still really fun of people and easy to get ...
