So we left Sasha behind in Siurana and I got dropped off on the outskirts of Barcelona as they passed by heading north through France to Switzerland. This would be the third time (fourth including a quick stop in the airport) I would go to Barcelona. But I had a few more things to see, a hotel reservation (so tired of hostals) and a couple days to relax before flying across the Atlantic to New Jersey...

Climbing in Siurana Part 1
Flew from Madrid back to Barcelona and was met at the Airport by Matthieu and friends Julien, Maria, Sam, and Werner. We drove from Barcelona south and then west to the small village of Siurana, home to one campground and miles and miles of remote limestone rock faces.
Siurana is world famous sport climbing, and the style is slightly overhanging faces with pockets and small edges for your hands ...

A long arm and a long day of Santa Tecla
So what's all this about guilt and redemption, I hear you ask (well I imagine that you might be asking that by now). Nothing much to feel guilty about so far. Well I'm coming to it, but it will take a few days for all to be revealed. However it all starts today.
The programme included lots to see and do today but the mornings are mostly quite relaxed so a chance for a bit of a sleep in and then a leisurely breakfast.

More Santa Tecla
First things first. We still had a rental car key to return which meant no chance of a lie-in if we wanted to avoid paying for an extra day. There are steps down from the viewpoint at the end of Rambla Nova to the coastal road and the Mediterranean was glittering in the morning sun. It's less than 15 minutes walk from the hotel to the Hertz office and mostly quite a nice walk at that.
