Historical Traveler Reviews Sol Cala d'Or Apartamentos Santanyi

    Excellent Week

    from

Just back from week's stay at Sol Cala Dor and had excellent stay.

Firstly used a pre-booked taxi transfer from Palma Airport approx 105 Euros return for 2 Adults and 2 Children well worth it - we arrived at 12.30 a.m. and arrived at Cala dor 40 mins later.

First impressions very clean and tidy apartments plenty of room.

Ideal position for beach and bars and restaurants right on your doorstep but with a 12 a.m. curfew for outside entertainment noise it is not a problem.

The Restaurant in the complex is good and bar staff friendly so you can have a relaxing drink at night while the kids play pool or watch the entertainment.

The Tropical Garden complex across the road is another good venue to take the kids with a play area, kids entertainment/disco, bar and also a Tribute Show each night.

Back to the rooms cleaned twice during our stay, only problem in room was the step/platform toilet is built on - stubbed my toes twice on it - though it could have been the drink as well!! As it was height of season pool was very busy each day and didn't fancy marking my territory at 8 a.m. so tendered to go to beach first then come back to the pool late afternoon.

Have been to quite few places in Majorca - but this definitely rates as the best value for money as far as self-catering is concerned. Will be back next year.

Great Value for money - very happy

    from

Very happy with my weeks stay at these apartments. For the money paid it was excellent value for money. Theres plenty to do in Cala D'or, lots of shops and plenty of places to eat and is only a short walk to the beach. Reception staff friendly and helpful and could speak very good english, room was cleaned 3 times during my stay, towels changed too. Kitchen basic but all you need, air con is wonderful, a life saver!!!! Would defo consider returning.

    Brilliant holiday...Great value for money!!!

    from

If you want to stay in a resort that's great value for money, in a great location and filled with friendly & helpful staff then this is the place for you!!! When we arrived at the Sol Cala D Or apartments we were convinced that we were in the wrong place as it was over and above all expectations that we had!!! The pool area was clean and there was more than enough space and the fact that you had to pay 2 euros a day for a sun lounger stopped the old "leave your towel on the same bed for the whole holiday" syndrome!!! In general the resort is well maintained and I feel that it's general write up on all websites is fair and truthful. Our room was cleaned twice in the week that we were there although it stated that it will only be serviced once so that was a bonus!!! We didn't really use the small but functional kitchenette but it was clean and had everything that you would need to prepare a simple meal, microwaves if needed are available to rent for the time you are there. The beach is just a 3 minute stroll maximum and there are a mass of bars and restaurants nearby - all with a 12am cut off point for loud music.

    We'll definately be back!!!!

    No Good

    from

first off the location of the apartments was fantastic, very close to everything and had many restaurants just a stone throw away. On our first day we arrived in the morning and there was a problem straight away, we were told that we did not have the correct papers when we had printed every page off that had anything to do with the hotel, after 15 minutes on the phone she decided that the form we had shown first was the correct one. So in to our apartment we go, reasonable size, bedding was very damp. After that everything was fine for a few days, until something went missing from our room, we reported it to the reception and we were laughed at at told its not there responsibility and we have to go the local police station (20 minute drive). The next day we decided to use the air con, which we had to turn off after 30 seconds because we could not hear the tv...Cleaners came when they please, we asked once of twice for fresh sheets and were told "tomorrow" but we really waited 3 days. Also there was only ever enough hot water for 1 shower and after that it was to cold to clean yourself. We had to call the handy man out on several occations beacuse the electricity liked to turn itself off from time to time. All in all perfect location but i do not recommend the sol cala dor and i will not be going there again next year.

Value for money and great location

    from

As the reviews from before, the accomodation is still clean and spacious, staff friendly and the apartments well located in Cala D'or. They're still charging €2 a day per sun bed but that's nothing compared to the beach, where it's €11.60 for 2 beds and umbrella!

Surrounded by good restaurants and bars, but best in the pedestrian area. Try Porto Pedro for good seafood (€10 taxi). Try Bar Cream on Cala Toni in the pedestrian area for good range of drinks, good music and really friendly owners, Bill & Val.

Overall a great choice for location and quality at a decent price.

    Really Good, Ace Staff!!!

    from

I went to cala dor on a second holiday with my boyfriends mum and sister and friend. On a arrivial staff were very friendly and rep was very helpful.

Room was nice and clean, we were on bottom floor so a 2 second walk to the pool!! Only downside to the pool as some1 else had said is it is 2 euros and u have to wait and have ur space basically marked out at 8am!

Bar area was lovely, entertainment at night was ok went a few times but liked going into town a bit more! Bar staff were lovely right characters!!

Over all sol cala dor is worth the money and i would defo go again!!!

    Very Clean and Well Maintained

    from

We spent two weeks in these apartments. The grounds and public areas were very well maintained everyday and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Inside the actual apartment the rooms were basic but provided everything you need for a holiday. My only complaint would be the nearby Karoake bar which was a bit too loud at night but did finish at 12pm prompt so it is was not too much of a problem as we were out in the town in the evening anyway.

Also you do have to pay 2 euros for the sunbeds and people would start to wait for these at around 8.15am! So it meant getting up early to ensure you got a good spot. But I am sure this would of been the case if you did not have to pay anyway.

Entertainment was provided in the bar area every night but we chose not to use this as the town centre restuarant etc are only a short walk away.

    Lovely Apts

    from

We have just come back from a 1 week stay at these apts. They were really nice, and very clean. They were in a great location. They staff were very helpful and the food excellent at the poolside bar. The pool was clean and it was no bother getting sunbeds, which you had to pay for, but it stopped folk being greedy!

    Fab place

    from

I would recommend these apts to anyone, they are close to shops, many restaurants, fun parks for the kids, only a short walk to the beach, close to bus stops to Palma etc there are also pubs nearby too.

Inside the apts there is a small bar/restaurant with friendly staff, a large swimming pool (with kids area). Lifts and 24hr reception service.

... and get sand in their sandwiches, and whilst that kinda sounds like hell (snobs that we are), we really just wanted some vitamin D and a dip in a pool… So we picked a little harbour called Cala Bona (no jokes please, we're British), away from the marauding hoards on the beach at Cala Millor and with plenty of actual Spanish restaurants to choose from. Ok, so there were loads of English bars as well, offering Sunday roasts, fish and chips, and pie and ...

... after a quick nap we went down to the beach and a man with a wheel barrel full of ice and fresh fruit was my first stop, he cut up beautiful fresh coconut, pineapple & watermelon. It is mostly families and couples in this part of Mallorca so nice & relaxed. After soaking up the sun we hired a giant paddle boat and went out on the water - the boys peddling and Zarah and I sunbathing on ...

We dropped William and the girls off at Santa Ponca beach after a late breakfast and Chris and I had a coffee nearby.

Clive and Cathryn brought them home after a few hours on the beach.

It was time then for a late paella lunch at Port Adriano. There were many expensive boats and superyachts moored in Port Adriano. It also ...

Lunch was at a restaurant called Marisqueria Galicia. We all shared several entrees (pimientos di padrone, fried baby squid, squid rings, a tomato and onion salad, galician style pulpo (octopus) and a fish platter). It was all very tasty with ...

... we don't plan to go back. (It is know for it's stations of the cross -The Way of the Cross. Not that I could do that - there are 365 stairs to climb.) I kept getting out of the car asking for directions and people were saying "Port de Polenca" but when I said,” I go to Port de Polenca” they would say “no.” I finally realized it was like saying look for the signs that say Riverhead. We called the Agroturismo Vall de Pollensa and his directions didn’t ...
