Well we've done a lot this 24 hours too! Last night, after we had connected to the Internet, I went in to have a shower as David was getting ready for bed. There was a dreadful crackling noise & when I asked what made that noise, David's answer was "Jack" (his laptop). Then when he went to shut it down it made another really dreadful noise & David said "I hope it doesn't have a virus". Things didn't look quite right so he decided to boot it up again - and it wouldn't finish starting ...

... I didn’t know that. So anyways, I was able to communicate my way to the metro well at least that is what was told to me. Lucky enough it was the metro but I still had no idea where I was going or which line to take but Lady Luck was again on my side and there is only one metro line in Helsinki, so I got on.

Looking like the backpacker traveler I am, I was staring at a sign on the train then a map in my hand and then back to ...
Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland drunkendidier... by us both. Then it was off the The Fellowes Bar (next door!) to meet up with Mike and the Carneys for a drink or two. We all headed into the centre and had a few more in the Sports Academy bar before heading home just after midnight (another non-early night in our holiday). It was a great evening, just relaxing and laughing with friends. We're all meeting up in a couple of hours to watch the France Norway game this afternoon. It should be a good match as it's the fight ...
Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland samlisa... it was really, really confusing. Nothing was labeled clearly. I waited in one line for an hour, to be told that I was at the wrong ticketing counter--I had to go to the one at the other end of the terminal...umm....clearly?? No. I ended up only having to drop off my baggage there, but it was really slow going, and then of course, the lady said I shouldn't have waited in line to do that...sigh... THEN, once through security, the lines for ...

It was a good day, and I enjoyed looking around, though the city did have a very similar feel to Oslo I thought.

A few facts about Finland:

-Population is about 5.3million

-The currency is the Euro, so some things are a bit dear, but certainly nowhere near as bad as Norway! Infact some of us decided that if you lived near the Norway-Finland border, it would probably be cheaper to drive to ...

Helsinki, Finland danharrietHelsinki. We got to Helsinki in under two hours from Krakow. We got the same driver 'Peter' to drive us to Krakow airport who drove us to Auscwitz the day earlier. From the airport we had about 8 hours to kill in the capital; so we caught a bus that cost 27 Euro. There wasnt too much to do in Helsinki so there is not too much to report. We walked about for about 3 hours and then found a bar ...

Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland 11kaks... of his own, a gently used black Kombi. He was nice to do it, too, a guy named Guy whose Finnish parents were both diplomats in the US. They met at the United Nations, had two sets of twins, and now Guy has an American passport, although he doesn't use it much. The bike, to an American, is definitely funny-looking. Like many bikes here, it has only a V-shaped frame, lacking the bar connecting the handlebars and the seat stem. In the US, this ...

Finnish men in particular are extremely stoic and dry, while the women are a bit more outgoing and cheerful. Both men and women are on the whole strikingly good-looking and well-dressed. Finland has been independent since 1917, and before then was part of both Russia and, previously, Sweden. As ...
