... they are much smaller than our pines. They grow skinny and short in comparision to our trees. When they die, becuase they do not rot easily from the cold, they are worth a lot of money as they are used for cabins. ... We fed them moss. there were also two babies. We then went into this hut thing with a fire and she fed us cake cookie things and blueberry hot juice they make themselves. She told us all about reindeer herding. I also saw a huge rabbit, bigger than a cat....it was running as fast as the bus so about 20 to 30 mph....it was really fast and really big. ... I ate one...it was actually pretty good...but I just ate one. We also had vegetables, a meatloaf tasting thing, berry cream cheese thing, and mashed potatoes...a lot of things... After dinner we went to the sauna. It was extremely hot....we left the door open and were only in there for 11 minutes. We then decided to run into the freezing cold lake and jump in. (pieni) Karhunkierros
Lekker geslapen en weeral gratis op N66.24033, E29.21049, ongeveer 10 km van onze volgende attractie (met veel licht want het wordt er nooit donker in deze periode) en ons klaargemaakt om aan de wandeling te beginnen, namelijk de Karhunkierros - 80 km (berenroute), maar wij doen de pieni - 11 km :-) (kleine), deze start hier: http://goo.gl/maps/DIyb (N66.26894, E29.40304).

Silent People in Suomussalmi, onderweg nr Kuusamo
Op de weg tussen Kuusamo en Kajaani, staan 1000 stro-kop poppen, het kunstwerk "Het stille volk" (Hiljainen Kansa). Uiteraard is er ook een winkeltje met de stomste souveniers, maar wij kiezen uiteraard voor de lekkerste van al, een pannekoek met bosbessen.
