Bonjour!
We finally arrive into Nice after 6 hours of grueling driving. It is around 7pm and we are exhausted. The GPS keeps telling us we are at our hotel (NH Nice) but the hotel it has us stopped at is a Novotel. After driving around for 45 minutes we realize that our Hotel is behind the Novotel. We finally check in and the pit bull bell woman will not let me help her with the bags (to the point that she was getting offended). After getting up to the room we unwind and the room is wh...

... time). On Saturdays, they show free classics, and on Sundays, they show free silent films with a live pianist. We saw the 1939 Classic Ninotchka, starring Greta Garbo and Melvin Douglas. It was outstanding. Paul won a free ticket to a contemporary film (they tend to show art-house-type movies) for knowing what Peter Seller's last movie was (The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu in 1980).
We then went across the street to the Melting Pot restaurant ...
... My mind has too much going on in it! It rained all night and is still raining. We did the breakfast things and then I got on computer- We did a bit on the genealogy stuff and then out in the rain for a few chores and to see the town. A neat old town with a lot of history (Amherst NH), back home in the rain, talked and did more genealogy, had a family dinner and just a comfortable family night. And it is still raining. I called Wayne and Ro and will see them when I leave here.
Amherst, New Hampshire, United States teamcc... what they were doing, they certainly knew better than I did. Once we reached Nice this evening, they asked where I was staying. I had reservations at this hostel, but they had none and joined me to see if they had room. After a tram ride and a 1.5 mile walk up a huge hill I reach the hostel. Unfortunantly they didn't have rooms for my new friends and it sounds like all the other hostels in Nice are full.... We said our goodbyes ...
Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France mrletichSo we managed to find our way home after an incredible summer. In just over 5 weeks we were in 29 States, drove 12,700 miles, visited 5 World Heritage Sites, many wonderful state and national parks, saw great cities, awesome beaches and fantastic friends and family. This was a time I will cherish forever.
Thanks to all who have followed my blog and taken this journey with us.

We lucked out again and the weather was gorgeous! Cool sunny and the wind at our back! Lots of steep climbs 15% and better in a couple of places, the last kiss from ABb. The roads in New Hampshire are great for the most part and the towns are old and all kinds of streams and lakes are littered throughout. The aroma in the air is a lot like smelling a Christmas tree in some areas and then some areas were like walking into a flower shop. The ...
Manchester, New Hampshire, United States bot989... that I had planned for us. What had I done? Fifty days of driving and camping across the US. But as nervous as I was, I was also excited about the adventures that Russell and I would get ourselves into....so, one last look back and Niagara Falls, Ontario, here we come!
... Ninety percent of the women who choose to remove their tops are either under the age of ten or over the age of seventy. Then there are the American tourists who want to try out the supposed local way of tanning. We will just say that 3.5 seconds was enough for me. I remained on my rented beach towel for a good portion of the day. The water was a vibrant turquoise that I could stare out into forever. My head cold was slowly encroaching, so it felt rather nice to ...
Nice, Provence, France sheayoung... beach! Needless to say I was releived and excited to see Brandon when I got there! We then found out that the last bus to our hotel, which is actually up in the hills above Nice, had already left. The train information people kept saying oh no La Gaude (the name of the city), very far, very expensive. I called the lady at the hotel and she said that we would have to take a taxi and hopefully the driver would find it ...
Nice, Provence, France peter148... The view from the balcony we sat on was amazing. We were at about 400 meters, Baou de St Jeannet behind us was 800 meters and the we had the whole valley stretching out below us right down to the Mediterranean and Nice airport. After lunch we walked around town, lots of very narrow streets and even narrower houses. Flags flying getting ready for Bastille day and the festival they were having in the town. We were amazed at the ...
